2002 CRS Awards Banquet February 1, 2003 The
Gravel Crew finished the year with great results. 3rd place in GT Production was awarded to our GIRL, Bristol Keele! Lots of guys got beat by this 18 years young of a girl and a lot more are going to be beat for this '03 season as her little Subaru L model all wheel drive Impreza is getting upgraded to TURBO STATUS!!! She will now move into the all-wheel drive modified class as her need for boost is being satisfied! The car is going to the paint shop for a fresh coat of white paint and then we are working on a black and PINK graphics package. 2nd place in GT Production goes to Marvin Ronquillo for is outstanding consistency and “stayin-togetherness” with his trusty ‘02WRX. With this Marvin is moving into CRS forest rally mode for the 2003 season and will make his debut along with his co-driver Scott Johnston at Rim of the World Rally. Marv’s WRX recently dipped in Sparco accessories has passed the SCCA tech inspection and is ready to RALLY ON! 1st place in GT Production goes to Scott G. If there was there was an award for over-all points then Scott did it by maxing the 500 point spread in the first five events! The CRS board has recruited Scott as a driving instructor for the CRS Rally School program for the 2003 season. Simply impressive and now currently shopping for the next level as Scott will also do double duty in the CRS Rally Sprint division. 2nd place in 2WD Street Stock class goes to Rodney Wills. As the Group 2 Escort ZX2 was in the final prepping stages, Rodney was tooling around in a 2002 Mazda MP3 Protégé, better know as “baby Scooby” and dreaming of converting this car to full time rally – but that was only a dream as this car was a media car belonging to Mazda. On the full forest rally side; Rodney (driver) Scott G. (co-pilot) raced one event (Ramada Express International Rally in Laughlin, NV) with the Ford Escort ZX2 and finished 6th in Group 2 and 17th overall out of 38 cars. So for the Final 2002 CRS Rally Championship Standings and with a combined Class between Group 2 and Group 5 Wills/G. finished 13th out of 21 cars. Photos:
