2003 Tombstone RallyCross
The Gravel Crew was blasting at the CRS Rally-X Championship Event
held at the Tombstone Paintball Park, Corona, Ca. – Sept. 28, 2002

With the setting looking more or less like a Mad Max movie set, any slip would have had the cars looking as rough as anything in the movie! This was the most mental mania with course memory and visually challenging with massive dust clouds and darkness and just overall treacherous!

Even with all the gnarly distractions, this was the most joyous moment in Gravel Crew history! All the cars made the starting line! Yes, Rodney Wills’ Ford Escort ZX2 and Scott G’s very own Subaru WRX actually made the long awaited debut!

Scott G. only completed one of three laps as one of the makeshift snow tires flatted, but that was enough to set the fastest lap and we will claim it as an exhibition lap as Marvin Ronguillo ‘02WRX took the overall win and first in Performance GT class! Matter of fact, Gravel Crew laid down the top five fastest times of the night with Chris “oppie” Tusow taking the second place overall and first in Street Stock AWD with his bone stock Mitsubishi Eclipse! Mike Jones tool home the third overall and first in 2wd Open class. Kevin Kraack, old friend and now flying under the Gravel Crew banner for a fourth overall and first in Performance Stock class. It was a long overdue wait and joyous moment for Rodney Wills as he finally got behind the wheel of his own car and piloted the Escort ZX2 to Eight overall position and second in Production GT class. Bristol Keele once again flexed her skills for the fourteenth overall position and second in Performance GT class. Not present was Sean Mahaney due to the extra study skill with his new job at Subu Specialties of West Covina.

With Rodney’s recent research into the ZX2 tuner market and befriending the guys from Phord Racing (Fresno, Ca)– Will Pearjin, Sean Jones and Frank Silva took the “convert to dirt” oath and are under possible formation of a Gravel Crew Nor. Cal. Chapter. They are also largely responsible for Rodney’s ZX2 hitting the racetrack in great running order.
