Tait Ranch RallyCross
June 14,2003
The weekend
june 14th was a great weekend for the GravelCrew as the 1,2 / 1,2 sweep
in both AWD class and 2WD was achieved!
The Gravel Crew’s “swift-fin” Marrti Silvola laid
down the fast times for top honors, even over GravelCrew “super-talent”
Scott G. His new version WRX put him in 2nd place to secure the one-two
GravelCrew sweep in the AWD class.
Chris “Opie” Tusow is throwing down the wrenches as the
Gravel Crew’s chief mechanic and getting in on the rally cross
fun behind the wheel of the MTX / Streetwires Ford Escort ZX2. His personal
car is without a motor for the time being, but this does not hinder
his driving talent with the welded diff of the ZX2 as Opie places 1st
in the 2WD class. Rodney Wills out and seeking his fathers day wishes
for seat time in his MTX / Streetwires Ford Escort ZX2 and places 2nd
place and completing the 1,2 –1,2 sweep for the GravelCrew family.
Marvin “rowdy” Ronquillo was on hand and in heckling form
from the sidelines as his car is still at the DC Sports foundation getting
the prototype treatment for 100% grade A stainless steal exhaust byproducts.
Also from the GravelCrew extended family and swinging cars in the dirt
was Huy Bui with his school bus yellow WRX and throwing caution to the
wind with his new Ground Control suspension. John the “coil-over-kid”
was on hand with his fully prepped Scooby2.5RS and bustin’ moves
and layin in the grooves of this quickly worn track. Big Dawg Russ was
on hand with his WRX and putting time in, on and around the dirt. All
in all, everyone had a good time, nothing was broken so what more can
be asked for other than more track time, and that was made available.
But the GC posse was headed for food and celebration of the day’s
success.
