RACE WSRC 01.2003

The Gravel Crew takes the 22 hour drive to Shelton, Washington for first race of the Western States Rally Championships, Doo Wop 3 & 4. Racing in the locally fierce Group 2 class the Gravel Crew team finished seventh in class day one and sixth in class day two of the twelve car class. Day one Gravel Crew finished 22nd overall of the fourtyfour cars starting the event, 34 finished. Day two Gravel Crew finished 19th overall of 37 cars starting, 31 finished.

With the Gravel Crews new technical partnership with MTX & Streetwires for the Ford Escort ZX2 the crew is taking the next step in racing the Western States Rally Championships, the stepping stone to national level rally racing.

With this technical partnership news not quite news yet, the team headed off while most of the country is under snow and the road trip north came under snowfall itself just outside of Los Angeles on the Grapevine freeway. This did not delay the crew one bit as they made way for the chance to race for the first time on the famous terrain of the northwest Doo Wops events. It rained all the way up, rained some more, and rained all the way home – but was a fun event to drive and support team was happy, as the car did not incur any damage.

This Doo Wop Washington event is two separate events in one weekend of the ten events on the WSRC schedule for the year and the Gravel Crew racked up some good points to start the season off with a solid start.
